Video: Monty Python’s Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life
This Thanksgiving Day we’re enjoying a rare opportunity to gather our family. Since we live so far apart – in New York, California, Florida, Maryland, and the Virgin Islands – it takes a very special occasion to bring us together.
In the past decade, the only times that we have achieved this feat has been at weddings.
Last year, at my sister’s wedding in California, when we were all together, we talked about trying to make family reunions a more frequent occurrence. At the time, this seemed like an impossible dream, but we set a goal to make Thanksgiving meals an annual family affair.
A year later, here we are, four sisters with our life partners, eight young children, and our venerable mother, aunt, mother-in-law, cousin, and a tiny, but loud, Lhasa Apso. Mostly, all under one roof.
We’re catching up on all the big and little things that have taken place this year. Diets, weight loss, weight gain, surgeries, medical histories, movies, baby stories, new clothes, home decor, family politics. Just chatting and reconnecting. We have so much news to share, but also old family stories to rehash, compare, and analyze.
Inevitably, we’ve got a lot of drama going on.
